in the beginning…

The tiny details in my jewellery have been achieved with the tinniest of tools. In order to reproduce designs, pieces such as my Moth necklace started out life as a block of hard jeweller’s wax rather than metal. It is much harder than normal wax and enables the jeweller to create fine details such as the veins in the moth’s wings.

It is a slow process and as the wax can snap at any moment, it’s quite a stressful business! To make pieces light enough to be cast in metal, the wax model must be as thin as possible. As gold is a very expensive material, any unnecessary weight must be removed during the wax carving process.

These masters are then casted into silver or gold and then filed, polished and finally finished individually in my studio.

Other jewellery I hand forge straight from metal, such as our plain rings and stone set rings.

I really love creating these tiny creatures and leaves, so I’m sure there will be more to come! I hope you will enjoy following my creations here.
