Ethical Policy
Each piece of Only Through Shadows jewellery is made in the UK by Artemis Russell at her home studio.
How our jewellery and the running of our business impacts the world and its communities is very important to us as it should be to everyone.
We use only the highest quality materials that meet strict regulations to be ethically and sustainably sourced and produced. We do not use Russian sourced diamonds for our jewellery.
We take this responsibility very seriously, so that everyone involved in our production process, from the mine, to you, our customer, has rightly benefited. Every piece of our Jewellery may hold its own sentimental value, knowing that its production has been ethical and environmentally mindful.
Our diamond supplier and precious metals supplier are certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
RJC Members commit to and are independently audited against RJC Code of Practices – an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds, gold and platinum group metals. The Code of Practices addresses human rights, labour rights, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure and many more important topics in the jewellery supply chain.
The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)
Our diamonds and other stones are compliant with the Kimberly Process.
The Kimberley Process (KP) is a binding agreement that imposes extensive requirements on every participant. The visible evidence of this commitment is The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) that both safeguards the shipment of ‘rough diamonds’ and certifies them as conflict free.
Recycled Metals
The majority of our jewellery is made with certified 100% recycled gold and silver from our suppliers.
Manufacturing
With the exception of pearls, we do not use any animal products in our jewellery, tools or finishing products.
Packaging
We use recyclable card jewellery boxes. Our pouches are pure unbleached cotton muslin. Our padded envelopes for transit are fully recyclable and biodegradable. We are always looking for new ways to make our production and packaging plastic free and sustainable.
Thank you for reading,
Only Through Shadows.
