black diamonds

New from my jewellery bench are these 9ct gold drop earrings, featuring my kite shape rose with tiny natural rose-cut black diamond beads.

They have a stunning glittery appearance that is slightly blue/grey.

I love finding beautiful unusually cut diamonds with natural unique colours and internal structures. Hopefully I will be adding more to my diamond collection soon!

“Naturally coloured black diamonds get their colour from large quantities or clouds of minute mineral inclusions such as graphite, pyrite or hematite that extend throughout the stone. These diamonds may also have numerous cleavages or fractures that are stained black or have become black because of graphitisation. It is the concentrations of these internal features that are responsible for the coloration. In fact, the actual body colour of a natural black diamond may range from near-colourless to brown or “olive” green.”
